Welcome to the Junior Infant page.
We are having great fun learning new things, making lots of friends and memories in the Junior Infant classroom. We learn about ourselves and the world around us through play. We construct masterpieces, use pegboards, draw letters in the sand and dress up. Aistear playtime is great.
We love learning nursery rhymes especially when we get to act them out. We are enjoying meeting all the characters in Wonderland and reading about their adventures in English. Oxy Owl helps us learn our letters and sounds through the Jolly Phonics programme. In our library corner, we like to predict what is going to happen next in our big books.
Rocky Rua helps us learn new Irish sentences too using actions, songs and activities with Bua na Cainte on the interactive whiteboard. It’s so much fun singing with the guitar. In Maths, we like to get practical with all our wonderful concrete materials. In the hall, we use beanbags, skipping ropes and balls for P.E. Computers is so exciting, we get to play literacy and numeracy games on Tizzy’s Toy Box. We like to get creative in Art by cutting, painting, drawing, constructing and printing. We are developing great finger strength by practising cutting activities with the scissors, threading buttons and crunching tinfoil for printing.
After a busy day, we like to meditate with our eyes closed and think of all our family and friends. Every Friday, one lucky Junior Infant gets to take Moncaí Mairtín home for the weekend on an amazing adventure. I wonder who it will be next week?
Come back and visit us soon.
