Every year we have great celebrations for Seachtain na Gaeilge. We make a special effort to speak as much Irish as possible and to have lots of fun while doing it! Everyone dresses up in their best Irish outfit and the school is awash with tri-colours, shamrocks and leaping leprechauns!! We like to begin the week with an Irish comhrá together where the younger and older girls come together to show each other all of the Irish they know! All the classes learn and perform an enormous variety of Irish tinwhistle tunes, Irish songs and Irish poems for the whole school. We have student harpists, pianists, guitar players, concertina players and violinists all entertaining us with their Irish pieces! As if that weren't enough, we have a huge Irish quiz and finally a Mega Céilí where everyone in the school danced The Walls of Limerick, The Siege of Ennis, The Galway Reel, Shoe the Donkey, The Haymakers Jig and many many more dances! It is an amazing week which we look forward to every year!
